Skeptics, including former Alabama coach Nick Saban , have been very open about their concerns for Alabama's defense going into their 2024 season, which also marks the beginning of the post-Saban era.

Saban was a mastermind on the defensive side of the ball. Now, their new coach, Kalen DeBoer, is a mastermind on offense but still prioritizes positive defensive play to complement the offense.

However, the current staff and analysts, such as Saban, are beginning to have their eyes opened after the Tide's most recent scrimmage, where the physicality of the defense began to truly shine.

"Everybody on the defense wants to show up with violent intentions and really strike fear into our opponent," Malachi Moore told Charlie Potter of On3 .

DC Kane Wommack said on Tuesday that he really feels in his element when it comes to calling the plays on defense. He said he expects this defense to come out on Saturday with energy, physicality, swarm mentality, and violent intentions to strike fear in opposing offenses.

We will get our first glance at the new defensive scheme on Saturday as the Crimson Tide will face Western Kentucky in Tuscaloosa.
