The Los Angeles Rams have traded linebacker Ernest Jones to the Tennessee Titans, a move that caught many by surprise. In exchange, the Rams received a fifth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft along with the Titans' sixth-round pick for the same year.

This trade follows reports that Jones was allowed to explore options with other teams. He was absent from practice on Monday, fueling speculation about his future. Although Jones initially posted on social media denying any request for a trade, he later removed the post. Rams' head coach confirmed that Jones did not ask to be traded.

The decision to trade Jones was described as a strategic move for the team. The coaching staff believed it was in the best interest of the Rams moving forward. Jones has been a valuable player for the Rams, contributing significantly during his three seasons with the team. He played a key role in the Rams' Super Bowl LVI victory, recording a sack in the championship game.

Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Jones was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He had hoped to complete his contract with the Rams, but now he will continue his career in Tennessee.

During his time with the Rams, Jones established himself as a starter midway through his rookie season and consistently recorded over 100 tackles in subsequent years. In 2023, he set a franchise record with 145 tackles and added 4.5 sacks to his stats.

With Jones gone, the Rams face a challenge in replacing his experience at linebacker. The team will need to rely on younger players to fill the gap in their defensive lineup this season.
