Chicago Sky Rookie Angel Reese Steals A'ja Wilson's Top 5 Spot In WNBA History

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has surpassed Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson for the most rebounds in a single season while competing against the Washington Mystics on Wednesday.

Reese is now No. 5 on the list, behind Sylvia Fowles, Jonquel Jones, Tina Charles and Alyssa Thomas. Despite having 10 games left in her rookie season, after the Sky's matchup against the Mystics, Reese has already had a Top 5 season in terms of total rebounds.

The 22-year-old didn't pass just anybody as well. A'ja Wilson is the leading MVP candidate this season and she's been one of the best WNBA players in the past few years.

During Wilson's historic 2023 season, she notched 380 rebounds. Reese has surpassed that, and the next woman to pass is Connecticut Sun star Alyssa Thomas, who secured 394 rebounds in 2023.

Wilson is currently averaging 27.1 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. She leads the league in average points and blocks.

The 28-year-old is a back-to-back defending WNBA champion. Passing a player of this stature should only boost Reese's confidence as one of the best athletes in the league.

Angel Reese has averaged 13.5 points and 12.9 rebounds per game throughout her rookie season.

She's been the most consistent starter for the Chicago Sky all year and was the only player on the roster named to the WNBA All-Star team.

The rookie has established herself as one of the best players on the board early into her WNBA career.
