Caitlin Clark's Heartfelt Message Has Kelsey Mitchell On Brink Of Tears

Caitlin Clark made waves yet again on Thursday night after the Indiana Fever superstar broke the all-time WNBA record for the most three-pointers by a rookie. It was her Fever teammate Kelsey Mitchell, however, who went off (again) to lead Indiana to a crucial 84-80 victory against the second-seeded Connecticut Sun.

Mitchell finished with a game-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, to go along with four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and four triples in the win. It was another incredible performance from the two-time All-Star, who has been on an absolute tear since the mid-season Olympic break.

Entering Wednesday's game, Mitchell was averaging 26.3 points on 48.1 percent shooting, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists. The 5-foot-8 guard has also been on fire from downtown, draining 4.0 triples per contest on a 39.0 percent clip.

Mitchell kept her foot on the gas against the Sun, which, unsurprisingly, drew some high praise from Clark. The former Iowa superstar also expressed her appreciation for Mitchell for being a central figure in her transition to the WNBA.

"She comes in and works so hard," Clark said of Mitchell. "She's always been a constant voice even when she was hurt through training camp at the beginning of the season.

".. For myself, as a rookie coming in here, she was always a very positive voice, very supportive. For me, that makes me feel very welcome coming in as a rookie. ... I just feel very lucky and fortunate because I know it's not every situation for a rookie, so I'm just very thankful."

Mitchell was sitting right beside Clark the whole time the rookie was giving her her flowers. Mitchell took it all in, and at the end of Clark's statement, the veteran guard could not help but feel a bit emotional after hearing all that from her young teammate.

Her being on the brink of tears seemed like an acting job from Mitchell, but there's no denying that Clark's lofty praise struck a chord with Mitchell.

For her part, Clark wasn't bad against Connecticut either, finishing with 19 points, five rebounds, five dimes and three triples in the victory.

Just another day at the office for the Fever's dynamic backcourt duo.
