Fans Want Taijuan Walker Gone After Phillies Manager's Statement

Philadelphia Phillies starter Taijuan Walker struggled anew on the mound Wednesday night during a game against the Houston Astros at home. For a second consecutive start, Walker allowed six earned runs. He also failed to record a strikeout in six innings of a forgettable outing versus the Astros.

Phillies manager Rob Thompson said after Philadelphia's 10-0 loss to Houston that his team will discuss the future of Walker.

“We gotta talk about it,” Thompson stated, per Tim Kelly of Phillies Nation .

But if it was up to the fans, there shouldn't be a conversation in the first place. They just want Walker out of the team.

“I’m more than willing to discuss with him. I’ll tell him he’s fired if he ever starts walker again”

“Haha, what’s there to talk about? Whether he’s being DFA’d? Being sent down to the minors? If so, I’m all ears. He needs to figure it out before he pitches in the big leagues.”

The Phillies signed Walker to a four-year, $72 million contract in the winter of 2022, but he's mostly been a disappointment on the mound since. So far in his tenure in the City of Brotherly Love, Walker has gone 18-12 with a 4.99 ERA, 5.05 FIP, and an 86 ERA+.
