This One Comes with a Shout Out for the Haters: Ducks Reveal Game One Uniform Combo, Shoes

Maybe this is the year that tired old meme is finally laid to rest: "Oregon, 7,253 uniform combinations, zero national championships."

Oregon hosts Idaho Saturday at 4:30 P.M. Pacific in Autzen Stadium, and the Ducks will unveil a new generation of uniforms, debuting this year the Generation O home look, one that combines tradition with some new touches and new tech, traditional green and yellow with the modern yellow O on mallard-shiny green helmet, a silver Big 10 Conference patch on the right front above the numbers.

It's a great look the team will play fast in, even if a few envious fans in Corvallis and Seattle snort in their beer.

Speaking on the Oregon coaches football show, Dan Lanning said, "It's exciting because it is new. Just as exciting as a new conference, a brand-new team."

"We have 130 guys on our team. We've got new people in new places. College football, there's transition every single year. We've got a new person playing quarterback, new people along the front."

"It's about how that team becomes a team. We're excited for that new adventure."

More than anything, that's the thing to look for on Saturday. The Ducks are favored by 44 and likely to win handily. The discerning fan has to look a little closer, however, looking for evidence of brotherhood, unity, chemistry and communication.

Growing in that way is crucial in the pursuit of that first championship. On Saturday they'll look like champions, but now we'll get to see if they are a group that focuses and prepares in a way that honors those impeccable dress greens.
