The Miami Marlins lost to the Colorado Rockies 8-2 on Wednesday at Coors Field. The two teams have each won a game in the series and will set up a rubber match for the finale on Thursday.

Here is what you need to know from Wednesday's matchup

    Max Meyer Couldn't Finish Strong

It wasn't a bad performance from one of the Marlins young pitchers on Wednesday. Max Meyer did well in his start until he made it into the sixth inning. Meyer couldn't record an out in the sixth after allowing the first two batters he faced on base with a single and walk. Both of them would later come in to score.

Overall though, there are some positive takeaways you can grab from Meyer's outing. He picked up six strikeouts in the start, his third most on the season. Walks were a major concern though, as he allowed four free passes, his most of the year.

    Strikeouts Are a Problem

The Marlins offense struggled to find a rhythm on Wednesday, and that was mainly due to the strikeouts. The team struck out ten times in the outing which caused multiple innings to stall out. The team was only 2 for 8 with runners in scoring position (RISP) and left seven men on base.

    Hill Goes Deep

The Marlins got at least one Coors Field deep ball in the outing on Thursday as outfielder Derek Hill connected for his fifth of the season off Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland in the second inning.

It was the second home run for Hill since becoming a member of the Marlins. Since his debut on the roster, he has hit .216/.234/.351.

    What's Next

The Marlins will finish their series in Denver with a rubber match on Thursday. The first pitch for the series finale is scheduled for 3:10 PM EST.
