When it comes to the WR position, Alabama has not lacked in star-studded talent over the last 10-plus years.

This offseason has been nothing but change for the Crimson Tide. New head coach, new coaching staff, and tons of new talent. But one thing remains the same: the 'Alabama standard.'

Granted, Alabama has lost key receivers Jermaine Burton to the NFL draft, and Isaiah Bond , who transferred to Texas . So, needless to say, someone within the WR room needs to emerge as not only the leader, but the star for Alabama's passing game.

As it stands, Alabama will have players featured at the position such as returning talent Kendrick Law , Kobe Prentice , and Jalen Hale , with Washington transfer Germie Bernard , as well as talented freshmen Ryan Williams and Caleb Odom .

Over the last few weeks, coach Kalen DeBoer has expressed high praise in his wide receiver group. Earlier on Tuesday, Caleb Odom received significant confidence from his head coach.

Stephen M. Smith of Touchdown Alabama Magazine opened up a little more regarding this.

While DeBoer has been very impressed with the WR group during fall camp, WR coach JaMarcus Shephard is expecting a huge accomplishment for this group. Shephard is expecting this group to compete with, or even surpass, the Alabama WR group of 2019 that featured Jerry Jeudy , DeVonta Smith , Henry Ruggs III , Jaylen Waddle , Slade Bolden , and John Metchie III . It will be a tough task, but the staff has the utmost confidence in this group.

DeBoer would say this about Odom .

“As a young guy coming in, he really turned our heads in the spring because I felt he was always lined up in the right spot, never seemed like he was overwhelmed, stood out and made plays, and he has continued to do that,” DeBoer said.

Odom could be a sleeper talent for this roster. However, Odom's 6-foot-5, 227-pound size allows him to play anywhere from WR to TE, creating diversity for his talent, which could heavily benefit the Tide offense.

DeBoer sees a lot in his WR group, and they get the chance to showcase themselves early against Western Kentucky on Saturday in the season opener.
