The vibe is clearly off at the Cincinnati Bengals' facility.

As star wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase continues to be a hold-in while he awaits his desired contract extension from the Bengals, he also hasn't played a snap at practice throughout training camp and preseason. He returned to practice last week, but hasn't been present on many first-team reps, and missed Wednesday's practice this week.

Head coach Zac Taylor addressed the media on Thursday, and had nothing positive to report regarding Chase's practice status moving forward.

    "We'll see," Taylor told reporters.

Chase has stuck to his hold-in and appears that'll remain until something contractually gets accomplished in the next week.. If it ever does..

The Bengals will have to make Chase the 'highest-paid' receiver in NFL history , or hope that he decides to suit up for the remainder of his rookie contract.

The situation has officially taken its final lap, given that the Bengals' first regular-season game is a week away. A deal needs to get done soon, or it has a chance to truly turn ugly if Chase opts to sit out games and this carries into the pivotal Bengals season.
