As a franchise quarterback and face of the Philadelphia Eagles , Jalen Hurts hasn't had to deal with the same kind of role that other signal-callers have across the league.

Thanks to the veteran leadership of future Hall-of-Famer Jason Kelce, Hurts never had to worry about changing protections or plays at the line of scrimmage. With Kelce retiring, though, the burden of that communication falls directly at the feet of Hurts.

And it's something that the fifth-year quarterback is very excited to have on his plate.

"We had a great player in Jason Kelce who took on a lot of responsibility, and as a result of that I was told not to worry about a lot of things," Hurts said on 94.1 WIP. "And so my eagerness to learn over the years kind of was halted because of who we had, but now times are different and I'm excited for that journey and this opportunity."

Under new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, Hurts is expected to handle more responsibility as a leader and quarterback for the Eagles in 2024.

It's something he has been pushing for over the last few years. And now Hurts finally gets his wish in a make-or-break season for the quarterback.
