General manager Howie Roseman has never been shy of doing everything possible to try and improve the Philadelphia Eagles roster.

Even if it means taking a flier on a failed third-round draft pick.

Philadelphia claimed third-round defensive tackle Byron Young off waivers Thursday afternoon. Young was originally the 70th overall pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 and only appeared in six games during his rookie season.

The former Alabama star was cut by the Raiders as part of roster cutdown day Tuesday. While it's not a good sign Vegas was willing to give up on a high draft pick just from last season, the Eagles have had a strong history of giving second chances to those types of players over the last few seasons.

Young has potential as a run-stuffer on a defense in need of depth along the defensive line.

Outside of first-round picks like Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis, the Eagles have questionable depth at defensive tackle going into 2024 with Vic Fangio as the defensive coordinator.

Young would certainly be a player to help the organization along the interior. Even if the team doesn't know how successful he will be.

Philadelphia has yet to announce a corresponding roster move to bring Young on the active roster.
