'CeeDee's JACKED!' Lamb Adds 15 Pounds Of 'Body Armor'

FRISCO — The biggest positive for the Dallas Cowboys this week clearly glares in the extension of CeeDee Lamb. However, the timing of the move could present a downside. ... in theory.

Lamb's holdout for a new deal kept him away from the team all through the training camp and the preseason. Given his familiarity with the team, the scheme fit is less of a concern and instead their remains worry about his shape for the year.

The Cowboys have less than two weeks until they kickoff the regular season, meaning a short time for the staff to get Lamb back into a flow with the team and prepared for football action. But the receiver feels he has already put himself in the necessary condition to excel right out of the gate.

And one of the reasons why?

"He's jacked!'' said coach Mike McCarthy in review of Lamb's frame.

Indeed, the 6-2 Lamb - who normally plays at about 200 pounds - says he's added about 15 pounds of 'body armor."

"I feel like I'm not missing a beat," he said. "The two hours outside in the Florida weather was not pleasant...Coming back indoors, I can breathe a little bit more. Physically prepared for these moments again. I'm ready to go to battle."

Training in the brutal heat and humidity certainly provides one of the better alternatives to the conditions the rest of the team experienced in Oxnard, California.

His confidence about his condition is apparent and encouraging, but will that translate?

That may be a factor outside his control if the team decides to limit his usage early on in games that potentially get out of reach. In a win-lose situation though, that fitness will be tested in the early stages of the season.

Nonetheless, if he is truthfully in shape to go, there will be no need in worrying about his summer holdout. But any early duds will undoubtedly drawn in his critics.

The Cowboys open the regular season September 8 at 3:25 p.m. against the Cleveland Browns.
