With the 2024 regular-season just over a week away, the Cleveland Browns have revealed their five captains for the season.

Leading the captains are quarterback Deshaun Watson and edge rusher Myles Garrett. Joining them are cornerback Denzel Ward, guard Joel Bitonio and long snapper Charley Hughlett. All of the roles were decided on by the players' teammates.

Following the announcement, head coach Kevin Stefanski praised the players who received the honor.

"It's a great honor for these guys," said Stefanski. "Deshaun is the quarterback, obviously, he's been doing this his whole life. Leading is very natural for him. And his teammates, again, they recognize hard work."

Out of the five captains, four of them are returning to the role from 2023, while Ward is serving as a captain for the first time in his career, both in the NFL, and in college where he played at Ohio State.

"I think [Ward] leads in his own way," said Stefanski. "He's a great example of a guy that just does it the right way all the time. Was here all offseason, didn't miss a thing - a lift, a meeting, a practice. And I think his teammates notice that."

Although Ward just recently returned to practice after suffering his fifth concussion, he plans to be on the field for when the Browns take on the Dallas Cowboys in Cleveland to open up the regular-season on Sept. 8.
