Stephen Curry has officially signed a one-year contract extension with the Golden State Warriors, effectively ending speculation about a potential move to the Los Angeles Lakers .

This new deal, valued at $62.6 million, will keep Curry with the Warriors through the 2026-27 season.

While fans had hoped to see Curry team up with LeBron James, the likelihood of that happening has diminished significantly.

After their successful run together with Team USA, discussions about the two stars joining forces in the NBA gained traction, but this extension makes it clear that Curry will remain in Golden State for the foreseeable future.

Curry's current contract now spans three years, while James recently signed a two-year deal with the Lakers.

With James hinting at retirement in the coming years, the window for a potential partnership on the court is closing. Unless Curry requests a trade, the idea of him joining the Lakers remains unlikely.

This development is a win for Warriors fans but disappointing for those hoping to see a Curry-James collaboration.

Both players are now focused on leading their respective teams back into championship contention. The Western Conference is competitive, and while neither team is expected to dominate this season, both have the talent and experience to make an impact.

As Curry continues his career with the Warriors, it seems likely that James will finish his with the Lakers, marking the end of an era for both franchises.

These are the two best players of their generations in the NBA and while it would have been great to see them play together again, we got a great taste of it in the 2024 Olympics.
