On Tuesday, the Washington Commanders waived former fifth-round pick KJ Henry,  who is entering his second season in the league after being selected by Washington in 2023.

In an attempt to get guys who will play “Commanders ball”, coach Dan Quinn and general manager Adam Peters waived the former Ron Rivera-era draft pick.

Coach Quinn was asked what the decision-making was when placing the second-year player on waivers.

"I think honestly when you're going into new programs, you're really looking at some things that will change and scheme fits and what you're looking for," said coach Quinn.

"Sometimes when you're going into something new, you're looking for different scheme, different fits, but I think by and large we've really been pleased with what we've seen from Jamin and that certainly was part of the factor."

Henry was claimed by the Cincinnati Bengals where he will begin the next part of his journey. As a rookie, the former Clemson Tiger played in 10 games last year collecting 19 total tackles and 1.5 sacks.

Coaches and general managers around the league dread cut-down day because it’s one of the most difficult processes for them to go through.

"It's the hardest day of the year and the first time doing it in this chair it's even harder," said Peters.
