Buccaneers Plan 'Explosive Offense' Under Liam Coen

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are often an afterthought in most NFL circles, and the franchise is not seen as one that can seriously challenge the top teams in the NFC.

This offseason has been no different despite Baker Mayfield leading the team to a third straight division title and a playoff win last season.

The Buccaneers retained most of its roster, including Mike Evans, Antoine Winfield Jr., and Mayfield, yet there are still detractors of what Tampa Bay could be like in 2024.

With new offensive coordinator Liam Coen coming in to replace Dave Canales, who is now Carolina's head coach, things have been going smoothly this offseason.

But as far as what to expect from the Mayfield-led offense in Tampa Bay this season?

"I feel like this offense is explosive," running back Bucky Irving said . "We got a lot of guys that can make plays and in a variety of different ways. From the ride receivers, the running back room quarterback, the guys up front blocking, protecting, I mean, we're going to be a very explosive offense."

With Evans, Chris Godwin, Trey Palmer, Cade Otten, Jalen McMillan, Rachaad White, Ivring, and Sean Tucker, Mayfield has a lot of offensive options.

Godwin and Evans were 1,000-yard receivers last season, and White was nearly a 1,000-yard rusher. If that trio can replicate that in 2024 and have McMillan, Palmer, and Irving pull their weight, the Buccaneers are an interesting proposition.

Of course, the Atlanta Falcons have taken the spotlight due to signing Kirk Cousins, but don't discount Tampa Bay.

They have a stout defense and an offense that has weapons everywhere you look.

It might all come down to how Mayfield operates in Coen's scheme, which is most people's biggest concern ahead of the new season.
