The Colorado vs. North Dakota State football game started off with a parade of scores, which didn't surprise fans who watched the Buffaloes' defense last season.

NDSU struck first with a long pass play that set up a field goal. Then, Colorado's Travis Hunter snaked past two defenders to break free for a 41-yard touchdown off a screen pass.

NDSU came back with a touchdown this time, but Colorado did the same after with a long TD pass to Jimmy Horn. Then? NDSU scored again to make it 17-14. The defense even stopped Colorado on fourth down on the ensuing drive to get the ball back, tacking on another field goal to make it four scores on four drives.

Following that very familiar start to the game for the Colorado defense, social media had plenty of jokes at its expense.

"Colorado is fun to watch because their offense is explosive and their defense does the thing where they leave the other team so open you think you missed a whistle in the game," Barstool's Big Cat said on X.

Others had videos to showcase how unimpressed they were by the defensive unit in the black jerseys.

    Now that's just cold.

This comment comes straight from a man who lived out of his car last season and road-tripped across the country to watch Colorado and dozens of other college football games in every corner of the continental United States.

Colorado's offense has flashed its brilliance early on, but if the defense can't be more effective than a traffic cone, Thursday will be a long night in Boulder.
