Browns' QB2: Jameis Winston or Dorian Thompson-Robinson?
By Colin Miller,

With the preseason and roster cutdowns complete, the Cleveland Browns are now down to three quarterbacks on their roster. Of course, Deshaun Watson, who is entering the third year of his five-year, $230 million contract, will begin the season as the team's starter.
However, the backup quarterback position is a much more interesting discussion for the Browns, as Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Jameis Winston are both in contention for the job. Although reports came out prior to the cutdown deadline that the Browns were fielding offers for Winston, the deadline came and went, and he's still on the team.
Winston is a seasoned veteran in the league, as the Browns are his third team since joining the NFL in 2015. In his career, Watson has started 80 games, and thrown for over 22,000 yards and 141 touchdowns. However, he has also thrown 99 interceptions, including 30 in 2019 alone.
On the other hand, Thompson-Robinson is young, at just 24-years-old, so one could argue that he has a lot of room for improvement. However, in his three starts for the Browns last season with Watson out, he totaled just one touchdown and four interceptions for a 1-2 record.
Now, the Browns have to decide if they want to prioritize development or experience with their backup quarterback decision. The team will certainly only have one of the two backups active for game days this season, meaning it will be clear who they would rather have come into the game if Watson were to get hurt.
