Sports Reporter Didn't Hesitate Calling Sheryl Swoopes 'Caitlin Clark's No. 1 Hater'

Popular sports reporter and media personality Rachel DeMita didn't hold back in her commentary about how WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes continues to hate on Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.

Swoopes made headlines once again recently after she refused to talk about Clark during a broadcast of the Dallas Wings' 93-90 win over the Las Vegas Aces. When her broadcast partner mentioned how Clark and Lynx star Napheesa Collier won Player of the Week, Swoopes decided to stay silent instead of chiming in on the news.

DeMita took issue with Swoopes' action, highlighting that she's really "Caitlin Clark's No. 1 hater."

The 34-year-old reporter admitted that she initially wanted to defend Swoopes from the critics since she understands that "there are different reads that the broadcasters have to call out" during a broadcast. However, after the long period of dead air from the women's hoops icon, she knew that Swoopes simply didn't want to talk about the Fever rookie.

"Here's once again another example of Sheryl Swoopes hating Caitlin Clark so much that she can't even literally say her name," DeMita shared in her Courtside Club podcast.

"It's like Caitlin Clark is the Voldemort if Sheryl Swoopes was Harry Potter--like literally [she] cannot say Caitlin Clark's name. It is so bizarre and so weird."

Rachel DeMita then proceeded to bring out the receipts showing the times that Sheryl Swoopes disrespected Caitlin Clark. She pointed out how Swoopes completely ignored Clark when she was talking about the Fever in a recent episode of her podcast.

"It doesn't even make any sense, not even a nod to Caitlin Clark, not even saying Caitlin Clark's playing well or Caitlin Clark's leading the team. ... To completely leave her out, it's so weird," DeMita added.

There was also that instance when Clark was still playing in Iowa and Swoopes shared false information just to play down the NCAA scoring achievement of the then-Hawkeyes sharpshooter.

"It's so weird to me for her to be just hating, like there's no other way to describe it, as she's just clearly hating on Caitlin Clark," DeMita further shared, adding that the basketball icon is coming off petty with her actions.

The sports media personality went on to ask her viewers what Swoopes should do next, whether she should issue an apology or address the controversy surrounding her and Clark.

Considering how much Swoopes avoids any mention of the Fever guard, though, fans shouldn't get their hopes up.
