Veteran QB Cam Rising has officially made his return to the football field after being sidelined all of last season due to a knee injury, and the 5th year star has made waves not only in the Utah history books but also in his career stats.

Rising started the day with a 64-yard wheel route touchdown pass to Dijon Stanley which turned out to be the only scoring play of the first quarter.

He then connected with veteran TE Brant Kuithe for a 29-yard touchdown and followed that up with another touchdown to Kuithe 3 minutes later, this time for 18 yards.

Dijon Stanley found his name in the scoring column 2 minutes after Kuithe racked up his second TD of the game after connecting with Rising on yet another wheel route which led to a 79-yard, 1-play scoring drive.

With one minute left in the second quarter, Kuithe made it 3 TDs in his joint return with Rising as the two connected on an 11-yard pass, which the electric TE muscled over the goalline.

With a whopping 5 passing touchdowns to his name in the first half, Cam Rising not only broke his personal game record which was previously 4 tds, but he also became the first Utah QB since 2014 (T ravis Wilson vs Fresno State ) to rack up 5 passing touchdowns in a game and the first Utah QB since 2008 ( Brian Johnson @ San Diego State ) to tally 5 passing touchdowns in the first half of a game.

A triumphant return for the undisputed leader of Utah football, Rising has made his presence known early and will look to continue his strong start next week at home when the Utes face off against Baylor on September 7th.
