College Football Fans Take Aim at Refs for Bailing Out Colorado Against NDSU

Late officiating decisions in Colorado's 31-26 season-opening win over North Dakota State have sparked controversy, leaving some fans questioning the game's outcome.

"Refs have once again magically managed to gift Colorado a win. Real funny how that keeps happening," one fan wrote .

Colorado came out victorious against NDSU, holding off a late charge from the Bison. NDSU had a chance, but their Hail Mary attempt came up four yards short of the end zone after being caught.

On the Bison's final drive, fans noticed that the refs rolled the clock after a first down before the ball was on the ground and ready to play. Many felt the refs also missed a targeting call as time was winding down.

"There was clear targeting and the refs just running the clock while moving the chains even to the tail end of the Colorado game and they still almost lost it," a fan said. "Whoever officiated that game should be investigated by the FBI. That was beyond blatant."

Overall, the flags were minimal during the matchup. NDSU was called for five penalties for 44 yards. However, one of those was a major pass interference call on third down with just under two minutes left. It allowed Colorado to drain the clock to 31 seconds before punting.

"Colorado and the refs had to pull out all stops out to beat an FCS school. I don’t wanna hear about these scrubs for the rest of the season," another fan wrote.

Like it or not, Colorado is 1-0, but it will face a much tougher test next week on the road against Nebraska.
