Colorado Buffaloes superstars Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter put on a clinic versus North Dakota State in a Thursday-night battle to open the 2024 college football season.

Sanders, a senior quarterback, completed 26-of-34 passes for 445 yards with four touchdowns to one interception, leading the Buffs to a nail-biting 31-26 win in Boulder.

While Sanders held the keys, Hunter ignited the attack, especially in the red zone. The junior wide receiver/cornerback caught seven passes for 132 yards and a career-high three touchdowns on the night.

When Colorado's offense needed a play, it was Sanders to Hunter for a first down or a touchdown. According to college football analyst Robert Griffin III, the highly-touted duo reminds him of a familiar pair in the NFL.

"Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter have that Patrick Mahomes-Travis Kelce connection," Griffin tweeted . "Even when they are covered, they aren’t."

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce are headed toward NFL legends territory. The three-time Super Bowl winners passed Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski for the most playoff scores in league history on the way to their 2024 Super Bowl win earlier this year.

Whether you feel that the hype surrounding Colorado is deserved or not, Sanders and Hunter have provided enough evidence, at least, to be considered as one of the best duos in college football. The two connected on 57 passes for 721 yards and five touchdowns in 2023 despite Hunter missing three games due to injury.

Following a fantastic Week 1 performance, the pair is on their way to surpass those numbers in 2024.
