College football analyst Darius Walker chose the wrong time to dole out some "coaching points" during Thursday night's matchup between Sacramento State and San Jose State.

Sacramento State running back Michael Johnson took a hard hit on a fourth-quarter kick return, fumbling the ball. However, the game took a backseat when it became apparent that Johnson was dealing with a serious injury.

Walker didn't get the memo and instead talked about pad level.

"The issue is he didn’t protect himself because he didn’t get his pads down. He takes a massive shot, and drops that football," Walker said. “The coaching point for Johnson here is that you have to get your pads down in traffic. ... When you’re in traffic and you know you’re about to take a shot, you got to get your pads down. That’s the coaching point here — get your pads down.”

Walker's lack of awareness for the situation drew the ire of many fans.

"This is pretty infuriating. Michael Johnson of Sacramento State took a huge hit in the game and while Ari Wolfe continues to sound concerned and human, Darius Walker can only discuss 'coaching tips' while a player lies motionless on the field," a fan wrote on X. "I really think there should be an apology from Darius Walker following this game."

Fortunately, Johnson was conscious and moving his extremities. San Jose State went on to win the matchup 42-24 behind a 21-point fourth quarter.
