When the Colorado Buffaloes hired Deion Sanders, they became an instant talking point in college football. Sanders, also known as Coach Prime, has a huge personality that has been evident since his playing days.

However, some of his remarks have sparked controversy and made national headlines. On " The Paul Finebaum Show ," a caller compared him to Muhammad Ali, suggesting that he is a master promoter of his team because of his statements. The SEC Network analyst stated that Sanders isn't as smart as people believe him to be. Instead, he suggested that the media gives Sanders too much credit for having everything figured out and referred to them as "lap dogs."

"I don't think he's as smart as everyone thinks he is," Finebaum said. "I think he's a good football mind, but when it comes to the media manipulation, I think the lap dog media gives him way too much credit having figured out every angle."

Colorado kicked off its 2024 season with a win against the North Dakota State Bison on Thursday. The win marked Colorado's first victory since Oct. 7, 2023, and seemingly temporarily silenced doubters.

Now, it's up to them to continue building on that win and keep doubters like Finebaum at bay.
