Dan Orlovsky Makes Opinion on Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders Very Clear

The college football season is barely underway, but Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is already turning heads—and drawing bold predictions.

After a standout performance in Colorado’s Week 1 victory over North Dakota State, former UConn star Dan Orlovsky took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his take: "I think Shedeur Sanders is a top 5 pick next year," he wrote .

It’s hard to argue with Orlovsky’s assessment after Sanders put on a clinic in his season opener, albeit against an FCS opponent.

The Colorado quarterback threw for 445 yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception, leading his team to a 31-26 win in the opener.

While his 2023 season had its fair share of ebbs and flows, Sanders did throw for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns with three interceptions, putting him firmly on the radar of NFL scouts entering 2024 due to having the kind of poise and upside they drool over.

Shedeur, playing under the direction of his father, Deion Sanders, who’s in his second year as Colorado’s head football coach, looks every bit the part of a top-tier NFL prospect right now. He’s got the athleticism, arm strength, and decision-making that teams at the next level covet. That said, Sanders still has a lot to prove and better competition on the horizon.

With next year’s QB class not expected to be particularly deep, Sanders may, in fact, have a legitimate shot at cracking the top five in the draft—if he can maintain this efficient level of play.

Should Sanders continue to impress, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him join his father as a first-round pick while making some serious noise alongside teammate Travis Hunter along the way.
