Travis Hunter got Colorado's season started with a bang, turning in a series of highlight-reel plays and scoring three touchdowns in the team's 31-26 win over North Dakota State on Thursday.

The wide receiver ended the game with seven catches for 132 yards, with his three touchdown catches securing the margin of victory for a Colorado team that had not won a game since last October.

The performance gave a major boost to Hunter's chances of winning the Heisman Trophy, with his odds moving from +6000 before the game to +1500 afterward.

For some, the race is already over. After the game, analyst and broadcaster Danny Kanell made a bold declaration about Hunter's standing in the college football landscape.

"The best football player in the country is Travis Hunter. And there really isn't a close second," Kanell wrote in a post on X after the game ended on Thursday.

Hunter earned praise from many others, including Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill who said he should be the first player off the board in next year's NFL Draft.
