Kirk Herbstreit Didn't Hesitate When Naming College Football's Best Player

Colorado may have plenty of questions still left to answer following its season-opening victory over North Dakota State, but when it comes to superstar Travis Hunter, the only question is: How is he capable of this?

Hunter is a former top recruit who joined Deion Sanders down at Jackson State before traveling with the band up to Boulder, where he emerged as a star on both sides of the ball right away in 2023. In his first game of 2024, Hunter only affirmed the loftiest of expectations fans have for him.

He nabbed seven catches and 132 yards, including three touchdowns — a 41-yard screen, a leaping back-of-the-end-zone grab and a game-winning TD catch with a NDSU defender draped all over him (pictured below).

On the heels of an outing like that, college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit took the training wheels off on a pretty bold take about Colorado's unicorn talent:

"Travis Hunter is as good as advertised," Herbstreit posted on X. "Talent-Instincts-and RIDICULOUS stamina. And now in his 3rd year has experience to go along with it. The guy is the best player is CFB! So much fun to watch!"

That's some strong support from one of college football's foremost authorities. Plus, note that post Herbstreit was quoting, with PFF data showing Hunter only came off the football field for two total plays Thursday night.

That might be as scary for Colorado fans as it is impressive.
