Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes certainly made waves in their season opener, and whether that’s for better or worse depends on who you ask—but the hot takes started rolling in.

After a too-close-for-comfort 31-26 win over North Dakota State in Week 1, former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III took to social media with a bold declaration about Colorado’s dynamic duo, Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter.

"Shedeur Sanders isn’t just a top 5 pick. Travis Hunter isn’t just a top 5 pick. They are both worthy of being the 1st pick in the NFL Draft," RG III wrote.

Griffin’s high praise for Sanders and Hunter speaks volumes about their performances. Sanders commanded the offense with poise, throwing for 445 yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception. Hunter showcased his versatility and athleticism playing both sides of the ball, catching seven passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns.

But RG III’s take isn’t just about their Week 1 showing—it’s about their potential to dominate at the next level.

The idea of not one, but two players from the same team being considered for the No. 1 overall pick is almost unheard of. Still, if Sanders and Hunter continue to perform like they did in the opener, RG III’s prediction might not be as far-fetched as it seems.
