Miami Fans Leave Three-Word Message For Florida On Famous Local Landmark

Miami Hurricanes fans waisted no time in poking some fun at the Florida Gators ahead of the in-state rivalry matchup on Saturday in The Swamp.

No. 19 Miami is looking for a hot start following an underwhelming 7-6 season a year ago. But Mario Cristobal and company will have to go through Gainesville for a notch in the win column, and Billy Napier's Gators need a win of their own following a 5-7 finish in 2023.

Hurricane fans aren't lacking in hate for UF with kickoff approaching quickly. They left a poignant message to their rivals on The 34th Street Wall, a local landmark in Gainesville.

    "Drain The Swamp."

It's not unusual for the 1,120-foot-long retaining wall along SW 34th Street on Florida State Road 121 to be covered in graffiti. Though usually it's used to promote events and public thoughts by the city's residents and the University of Florida.

The bitter rivals last met in 2019, a 24-21 win by UF. While the Hurricanes are considered one of the favorites to contend for the ACC Championship and a College Football Playoff bid, Florida is vying to keep Napier at the helm following two-straight losing seasons for the third-year head coach. The Gators have one of the toughest slate's in the entire country with eight AP Top 25 teams on the schedule this season. A win against Miami would give some breathing room headed into the SEC schedule.

Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Hurricanes are listed as 2.5-point favorites, per ESPN bet.
