Cincinnati Bengals Head Coach Says Defensive Chemistry is Tremendous

The Cincinnati Bengals are ready to roll on the defensive side of the football with the season now just over a week away.

With two deep playoff runs before last season did not go as planned for the team as a whole, good defense was one of the hallmarks of postseason success for the team. Naturally, most of the attention goes to Joe Burrow and the offense as a whole, but it was the defense that was really the fuel to 2021's Super Bowl run. If Cincinnati is to get back into a place where they are legitimate AFC contenders, the defense will be a huge reason as to why.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was asked during his media availability on Thursday about the level of chemistry on that side of the ball as the team has moved through camp, a question which made him smile and rave about how the defense has come together as of late.

"I wouldn't say that it wasn't there to begin with because it was good, but I think the last two weeks they've really taken a giant step," Taylor said of the unit . "They've got a ton of confidence in each other, I think each of them has always had confidence in themselves, now that has spread over the the entirety of the unit...It's really impressive to watch the energy they're flying around with, they expect to dominate...there's tremendous leadership amongst the veterans, great energy amongst the young guys, that unit is in a really good place right now."

By all accounts, things are looking good as the team gears up for the 2024 season.
