Steph Curry's Unconvincing Reason for Removing the Warriors From Instagram Bio

Star point guard Stephen Curry nearly gave Golden State Warriors fans mild heart attacks when he removed the team’s name from his bio on Instagram and replaced it with “Olympic gold medalist” nearly two weeks ago.

Any worry they fans had, though, subsided after Curry agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million extension on Thursday that will keep him in the Bay Area through the 2025-27 NBA season.

In a 26-second teaser video for her new episode of “The Circuit,” Emily Chang pointed out the awkward timing of Curry’s social media activity — something his wife Ayesha didn’t seem to be in the loop about — to which he gave a tongue-in-cheek answer.

“I was just proud to be an Olympian,” Curry said with a chuckle, though Clang didn't seem to buy it.

Following his IG bio update, social media began running rampant with speculation that Curry was about to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers to play with LeBron James, his USA teammate whom he won a gold medal with at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but there was never any credibility to that conjecture.

With longtime running mate Klay Thompson moving on to the Dallas Mavericks, the Warriors’ championship window is closed for the time being.

But keeping Curry in the mix will help with the new foundation the team is laying as he’ll serve as a mentor for youngsters Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis.
