A couple of weeks ago, Brock Bowers missed the Las Vegas Raiders ' second preseason game, against the Dallas Cowboys . Las Vegas would go on to lose that game 27-12, and the offense struggled without Bowers on the field.

Bowers had missed practice since then, with what had previously been described as soreness in his foot. Then, Raiders fans got a bit more worried when it was reported on Wednesday that Bowers had remained out of practice.

However, on Friday, head coach Antonio Pierce gave us an encouraging update regarding Bowers:

Pierce says he feels good about the prospect of Bowers being able to play in Week 1, and that the team is being precautious with him.

This is excellent news for the Raiders. With most fans not feeling very confident in their starting quarterback, Gardner Minshew, he'll need all the weapons he can get during his first year with the team.

Aside from Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers, there isn't much proven talent in the pass-catching department for Las Vegas. As the Raiders' first-round selection in 2024, Bowers isn't exactly proven himself, either.

Still, he'll have a variety of roles on the offense, which will make it awfully easy to prove himself in 2024. During the Raiders' first preseason game, a 24-23 loss to the Minnesota Vikings , Bowers lined up as a wideout, tight end and fullback all in one drive.

Bowers is set for a big rookie season . With that in mind, it's smart that Pierce mentioned the team is being careful with him, and not rushing him back from injury.

It's also very good to hear that Bowers will likely be ready for the Raiders season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers .
