Final Photo of Johnny Gaudreau With Wife, Children Emerges After His Tragic Death

The sports world is mourning the death of NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, who was killed along with his brother Matthew Gaudreau in a bike accident on Thursday.

Now, a tragic final picture has emerged showing the Columbus Blue Jackets star posing on the ice alongside wife Meredith and their children, Noa and Johnny Jr. after a game in April.

The Gaudreau brothers were struck and killed while cycling in Oldhams Township, New Jersey, on the eve of their sister's wedding. Police said 43-year-old Sean M. Higgins was driving drunk when he tried to pass a car on the right and struck the brothers, killing both.

There has been an outpouring of condolences across the sports world, with many remembering the impact Johnny Gaudreau had both in the NHL and as a college star at Boston College.

There has also been plenty of attention on Gaudreau's family, with many sharing messages for Meredith Gaudreau on the last public picture of the couple. Meredith and the children posed with Johnny Gaudreau after the final game of the season for the Blue Jackets, sharing images from the game on Instagram .

The Blue Jackets also released a statement mourning the deaths of the Gaudreau brothers, sharing condolences to both of their families.

"We extend our heartfelt sympathies to his wife, Meredith, his children, Noa and Johnny, his parents, their family and friends on the sudden loss of Johnny and Matthew," the statement read.
