The Kansas City Chiefs are still tweaking the roster a bit ahead of their Thursday Night Football matchup with the Baltimore Ravens.

The team announced on Friday that they signed running back Samaje Perine to the 53-man roster after waiving cornerback Eric Scott to make room.

Perine was with the Broncos last season and appeared in all 17 games with one start. He spent part of 2019 through 2022 in Cincinnati where he rushed for 941 yards on 213 carries with six touchdowns during that time.

The former Oklahoma Sooner was drafted by the Washington franchise in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, where he remained until 2019.

Notably, Perine caught 50 passes for the Broncos last season, which could mean he could be playing passing downs in Kansas City as part of a running back room that also boasts Isiah Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, both also weapons in the passing game.

Perine is the cousin of former Chiefs running back La'Mical Perine, who signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in May after being cut in Kansas City.

The Chiefs also announced they've officially signed quarterback Bailey Zappe to the practice squad and they'll be moving corner Nic Jones to the practice squad too.

The Chiefs play the Ravens in Baltimore on Thursday Night Football to kick off the 2024 NFL regular season.
