Brenen Thompson is excited to start for the Sooners

This week, wide receiver Brenen Thompson expressed his excitement about starting the season tonight in Norman.

On what it means to be named a starter

”Honestly man, it means everything. I’ve waited since my junior year in high school to be that guy. I’m fortunate to have had a good camp, along with the rest of the guys. I definitely came out on top and I’m excited.”

On developing as a wide receiver

“Ever since I came out of high school, that was my goal. I came out of high school as an athlete. I went to Texas my freshman year as a wideout and here as a wideout. So, I think learning the position has been a great part of that and I think over the last three years I’ve done a great job.”

How has your relationship with Jackson Arnold developed over the last year?

“Just reps. Reps over time. Practice. That kind of thing comes over time not only on the field but off the field. We get together off the field, build our relationship and continue to grow stronger.”

What are your expectations for yourself this year?

“I think I have the highest expectations, even over Coach [Venables]. I think my expectations of myself are higher than what he has of me. I’m trying to go win for this team. I’m trying to put this team first, trying to do everything in my ability to win for this team.”
