Mark Cuban 'Spills Beer' Over Luka Doncic, Michael Finley Interaction

Although Luka Doncic is a known winner, he just made his first NBA Finals and wasn't able to bring the Larry O'Brien Trophy home. Thankfully, their assistant general manager, Michael Finley, has such experience for the Dallas Mavericks' sake.

During the recent Roommates Show, co-hosted by New York Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, Mavs minority owner Mark Cuban explained the reasoning behind Finley taking Doncic's beer after clinching the 2024 NBA Finals.

The whole thing from Finn [Finley] was, 'Dude, you're going to be on camera, right?' You don't want to be holding the beer when you're doing these interviews," Cuban said of Finley's stance on the matter.

Regarding the optics of holding a beer during a celebration, especially clinching an NBA Finals berth, grabbing a beer isn't the worst thing, depending on the brand. Currently, the NBA's official and exclusive beer advertising partner is Michelob Ultra.

It isn't easy to determine what brand of the beer is seen from the footage, but it doesn't appear to be Michelob Ultra.

From an executive level, Finley understood the unnecessary ramifications of drinking the "wrong" beer at that moment.

Conversely, on a micro level, at least financially, perhaps Finley saw it as "tacky" to talk with a beer in his hand while communicating with the media.

Doncic is somewhat media savvy, but sometimes, in the heat of happiness and pure euphoria, people react differently from their typical nature. However, Doncic is young, and it's his first time in the NBA Finals.

Maybe he just wanted a quick sip before facing the juggernaut Boston Celtics.
