The Next Reggie White? Analyst Makes NFC East Comparison to Eagles' Great

The thought of free agency first began in the NFL in 1993 when, after eight years with the Philadelphia Eagles, Reggie White signed with the Green Bay Packers.

At the time, the then 32-year-old White had been the biggest free agent pickup for some time, even staying in contention with the likes of Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.

While White's free agency is still considered historic, one NFL analyst could see the next coming of that free-agent decision in quarterback Dak Prescott.

Mike Florio of NBC stated that due to Prescott's age, talent level, and the fact he plays for the Dallas Cowboys make him the biggest free agent available on the open market since White.

Prescott is set to hit free agency following the 2024 season if a long-term extension can't be agreed upon with the Cowboys. While Dallas has won 12 games in each of the last three seasons, the lack of playoff success has hampered the former fourth-round pick's legacy at the position.

There have been plenty of top free agents over the years who have fundamentally changed the landscape of the NFL.

White may have been the first, but Deion Sanders, Manning, Brady, and even Curtis Martin all were massive free-agent players on the open market.

Florio may think the Eagles' chief rival for the NFC East will be on that list, but it's hard to envision a quarterback who hasn't even been to the conference championship being on that list.
