The Atlanta Braves are not letting last night's loss ruin their recent surge of confidence. The team fell in the late innings on Thursday night to the Philadelphia Phillies thanks to a pair of home runs at Citizens Bank Park.

The Braves wasted no time on Friday night, however, and picked up a pair of homers themselves in the Top of the third inning. Both Orlando Arcia and Sean Murphy put the Braves on the board with solo shots against Phillies All Star pitcher Ranger Suarez.

Sean Murphy got the scoring started for the Braves with his 8th home runs of the season. After dealing with an injury that had him out for the majority of the first half of the season, he has had a solid month of August. In his last 30 games he has .228/.317/.391 with four homers and eight RBI..

It was the 14th home run of the season for Orlando Arcia as he hit an 87 MPH cutter from Suarez 408 feet to left center field. It had an exit velocity of over 105 MPH. Arcia clearly loves playing the Phillies. Before the game tonight in Philadelphia, Arcia entered the night with a .306/.390/.500 slash line against their NL East rivals. It is his best number against any team this year where he has made 30 or more plate appearances

Suarez is making just his second start since returning from the 15-day injured list for the Phillies. He was dealing with lower back soreness. These two home runs given up by the Philadelphia left hander make it five allowed on the season across three starts against the Braves. He allowed one in his first start of the season on Opening Weekend and allowed two in his most recent start against the club on July 6th.

The Braves will even the series with a victory tonight with two more games remaining this weekend. They are currently six games behind the Phillies for the NL East division lead.
