It's no secret Texas has high expectations for the 2024 college football season.

Starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is well aware of that. After reaching the programs first-ever College Football Playoff in 2023, all eyes are on the Longhorns to see if they can live up to the hype.

In a recent interview with Fox News Digital , Ewers dished on the high expectations. "We just need to be where our feet are and not look ahead each week. At the end of the week, we have set goals. We want to play that last game of the year," Ewers said.

"We want to play in the SEC championship game, but there are so many things we need to do. Right now, just focus on ourselves and the opinions inside of our four walls. Build the strong bond that we have. Continue to work towards that strong brotherhood so we can play our best games. Everyone wants to go undefeated, and if you don’t want to go undefeated, you’re probably playing the wrong sport."

Texas nearly reached an undefeated regular season last year, the lone loss coming in the final minute of the Red River Showdown in October. While the SEC has considerably tougher opponents, the Longhorns could still compete for a conference championship in 2024.

With a favorable conference schedule and a roster full of depth at several key positions, many believe Texas will reach the 12-team College Football Playoff. Ewers made it clear that playing in the national title game is the ultimate goal, but reaching the SEC Championship game would certainly prove that Texas can compete with the best in the country.
