Alabama fans will endure something they haven't witnessed since 2007, a new season with a new head coach.

Over the last 17 years of Alabama football under Nick Saban, fans have seen the utmost success in winning, consistency, physical play, and of course, multiple national championships accounted for.

Now, in 2024, a new era begins. New coach Kalen DeBoer now calls the shots and plans to continue the 'Alabama standard' for years to come.

Coming off an undefeated regular season, and falling short in the national championship as the Washington coach, DeBoer is riding a momentum high and plans further that with this historic program.

But, what is the true expectation? Since the Saban retirement, many questions and uncertainties have swirled around Tuscaloosa. Many don't expect this success to continue without Saban. Many claim the dynasty is finally over. DeBoer, however, has other plans.

His success in offseason recruiting cannot go unnoticed. His success at gaining and flipping four-star and five-star talent has been impeccable. Building for the future is clearly a priority as well.

Now we focus on Saturday, where the Tide will begin its 2024 season hosting Western Kentucky. The expectations from fans and media is very clouded and uncertain. There's no clear-cut result as to how the season will play out altogether, as Alabama will endure a grueling schedule.

DeBoer, though, gives fans something to be extremely hopeful for. Per Charlie Potter , DeBoer had this to say on what he expects the Tide to look like come Saturday.

"A lot of energy. The explosiveness and the physicality, the brand of football that Alabama is known for," DeBoer said. "We know we've got playmakers that can do that in all the areas."

It may not be clear on what the future of Alabama football will look like without Saban, but DeBoer is clear that the standard is the same, and his team will come out and play the best brand of football that they can.
