WNBA Icon Rebecca Lobo Reveals Why Caitlin Clark Will Enter MVP Race

It does not look like Caitlin Clark has any intentions of conceding the Rookie of the Year race to Angel Reese. At this point, the Indiana Fever superstar remains the firm favorite to bag the coveted rookie award at the end of the season with averages of 18.0 points , 5.7 rebounds, a league-leading 8.1 assists, 1.4 steals and 2.8 triples per game.
These numbers have been so staggering that more than a few folks out there believe that Clark can achieve so much more than just winning the Rookie of the Year title. In fact, the buzz surrounding her MVP campaign is getting louder and louder.
In a recent statement, WNBA icon Rebecca Lobo conceded that Las Vegas Aces center A'ja Wilson is still the heavy favorite to win her third MVP title behind "a season like we've never seen before in terms of her scoring and rebounding combined."
Lobo then pointed out that she "would not be shocked if we found Caitlin Clark in that conversation by the end of the year."
"Keep in mind that you vote for five players when you're voting for MVP," Lobo said. "... Could Caitlin find her way there? I think she can because of the impact she's had on winning, the impact she has had on that franchise and the numbers that she's putting up."
Lobo went on to say that Clark "won't win MVP this year," but reiterated that it's likely that the 22-year-old will be in the conversation.
As the Hall of Famer said, it's also not just all about the numbers for Clark. She's had a tremendous impact on the Fever since her arrival. After a slow start that saw them lose eight out of their first nine games, Indiana has since gone 14-8 and is currently sitting at the No. 7 spot in the league.
It goes without saying that Clark has been the central figure behind the Fever's incredible run, which does not seem like it's going to end anytime soon.
