Something that may not come to mind for many is the relationship between Kalen DeBoer, Nick Sheridan and Kane Wommack.

All three men spent time together in 2019 with Indiana. DeBoer served as the OC, Wommack as the DC and Sheridan as the TE coach. Then, in 2021, DeBoer accepted the head coaching position at Fresno State, Wommack went south to South Alabama to become their new head coach, and Sheridan stayed at Indiana one more year as OC. Now, they are all reunited together under DeBoer's leadership as head coach.

The importance of hiring both men in this reunion was simple: their aligned relationship.

Charlie Potter provided more insight to DeBoer's thoughts on their relationship.

“They’ve got an openness that is just really unique when it comes to coordinators,” DeBoer said. “They know that each other’s success is important to our team, and their relationship, I think, trickles to our program, whether it’s the coaches on their side of the ball or down to the players. And that’s important.”

A simple plan that could lead to great success, DeBoer has reunited each other to continue building on this relationship with each other, and provide the best success possible for the Tide for years to come.

Even though change has come and lots of questions still linger about the future of the Tide, DeBoer seems confident in his staff.

“That chemistry is going to be vital when it comes to the big moments that we’re going to face here throughout the season,” DeBoer told Potter. “There’s just a great alignment that I think exists. Their relationship has really been awesome to see. They’re not afraid to throw things off of each other and continue to make each other better and push each other.”
