USA Gymnastics Has Smug Reaction to Simone Biles’ First Pitch at Astros Game

The Houston Astros paid homage to the Houston-area Olympians prior to their 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals on Friday, including USA gymnast Simone Biles.

The 11-time Olympic medalist, who won three gold and one silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, threw out the first pitch, which provided plenty of photo-ops for those in attendance.

But there was one picture in particular posted to the Astros’ Instagram page that caught the attention of USA Gymnastics, and the team’s admin just couldn’t help themselves from letting their petty side take over.

Biles posed for a photo on the mound while doing a gymnastics salute, to which USAG commented “the salute is EVERYTHING.”

Biles’ Olympic coach Cecile Landi also acknowledged the salute with an amusing quip in her Instagram story as well.

Of course, the responses were in reference to when Biles was deducted 0.3 points during the balance beam final in Paris for not saluting the judges panel for an amount of time they deemed appropriate.

In response, Biles held her salute for an exaggeratedly long time during the floor exercise late in the day so as to not get any more point deductions.

Fortunately for the Astros, things turned out much better for them on Friday compared to the last time Biles threw out the first pitch at one of their games. They lost 12-3 in Game 2 of the World Series in 2019.
