Deion Sanders Sends Strong Message To Critics

Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has always been open about letting critics know he sees what they say.

He pulled receipts after Colorado beat TCU in Week 1 last season and did so again on Friday evening, a day after their first win of the 2024 season.

In a late-night post just one day after the Buffs beat North Dakota State, Sanders clapped back at his critics who called him a sell-out in the past. While it's unclear exactly what prompted this post at this time, it very well could be in reference to people criticizing him for leaving the HBCU program, Jackson State, for a predominantly white institute (Colorado) prior to last season.

Sanders has had plenty of sell-out crowds during his time in Boulder. The 2023 season marked the first time in program history that every game sold out of tickets. Their previous high was five of six games, which they hit back in 1993.

Near the start of Thursday's game, Colorado hadn't yet sold out for their Week 1 game, according to Brian Howell of Buff Zone, but he did express they were close.

"As of now, tonight's game is not a sellout," Howell wrote prior to the game. "There could be some walk-up that makes it a sellout, but the Buffs aren't there yet. CU sold out every home game last year for the first time in program history."

One thing is for certain, Colorado's game at Nebraska next week will be played in front of a jam-packed stadium. The Buffs blew out the Corn Huskers 36-14, but Nebraska now has five-star freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola to duel with Shedeur Sanders.
