Astros Player Had One Request of Simone Biles After Throwing Out First Pitch

Who could blame Houston Astros infielder Jon Singleton for getting a little starstruck after meeting 11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles during Friday’s game at Minute Maid Park?

After all, Biles is the most-decorated gymnast of all-time and a seven-time Olympic gold medalist.

After Biles threw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of Friday’s 3-2 win over the Kansas City Royals (she was also honored before the game along with Jordan Chiles and several other Houston-area Olympians), Singleton wasn’t shy about walking up to her afterward and asking her to sign the ball for him to have as a keepsake.

It’s a rarity for ceremonial first pitch guests to autograph the baseball they threw, but Singleton likely gets a pass considering Biles’ celebrity status.

In addition to the autographed ball, Singleton also got to pose for a photo with Biles, which was prominently displayed on the Astros’ Instagram page.

As for the first pitch itself, Biles didn’t do a twisting somersault backflip like she did the last time she threw out the first pitch at an Astros game in 2019, but her throw was right on-target and she pulled out a gymnastics salute at the end for good measure.
