Stanford put forth a valiant effort in its home opener but ultimately lost 34-27 to TCU and started the season 0-1. Ashton Daniels struggled, completing 17 of 35 passes for 163 yards with a paltry 4.7 yards per attempt. He also had one touchdown and one interception.

Backup quarterback Justin Lamson also completed one pass for a touchdown and added a score on the ground. He could see more time in upcoming games if Daniels cannot improve on this showing.

Star wide receiver Elic Ayomanor kicked off his season with an excellent performance, finishing with seven catches for 102 yards. He's one of the candidates for the Biletnikoff Award this season, and NFL Draft scouts surely took notice of his outing on Friday night.

For TCU, redshirt sophomore quarterback Josh Hoover had an excellent night, finishing with 353 passing yards and two touchdowns. Tight end Jack Bech and wide receiver JP Richardson finished with over 100 yards. The Cardinal may need to make some changes in its secondary to avoid surrendering this passing performance moving forward.

Stanford head coach Troy Taylor made some questionable decisions throughout tonight's game. He'll look to right the ship and lead his team to a victory next week against Cal Poly before conference play begins in the Cardinal's first season in the ACC.
