The Los Angeles Clippers have landed a three-year, $58.6 million extension with Ivica Zubac, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. This serves as the maximum offer that the Croatian big man can sign with the team out of consideration for the NBA's new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

    Details behind Zu's extension

This new deal with the Clippers will carry Zu with the franchise until the conclusion of the 2027-28 season. Before agreeing to the extension, he held an expiring $11.7 million salary for this forthcoming 2024-25 campaign.

Zu, 27, has been the longest-tenured and established center for the Clippers since his 2018-19 midseason arrival after being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers for the 32nd pick of the 2016 Draft. He seized career numbers for the ball club from the past season, averaging a career-best 11.7 points in a 64.9 percent field goal rate to go with 9.2 boards, 1.4 assists, and 1.2 blocks across 68 games.

The Zubac extension serves as the Clippers' latest positive move this offseason. After critically losing Paul George in free agency, L.A. still notably regained the service of James Harden and proceeded to sign Derrick Jones Jr., Nic Batum, Kris Dunn, Kevin Porter Jr., Mo Bamba, and Josh Primo.

This Zubac extension is a solid win for the organization. Beyond the fact that the Clips extended its ties with its longtime starting center, the team will also be about to see more from him as he approaches the prime stage of his career. This new deal hammered by Zu shows his commitment to the franchise even if he can look for more offers elsewhere in the market by balling out his contract year this upcoming season.

With Ivica back for more, we can only be thrilled and excited about the Clippers' continuing desire to compete for a championship.
