Jayden On Expectations 'Can't Think I'm The Savior!'

When the Washington Commanders drafted quarterback Jayden Daniels second overall, naturally, expectations rose for the organization.

After being in the NFL doldrums for years, Daniels offers light at the end of the tunnel, and with the franchise making several moves this offseason to help usher in this new era, there is fresh hope.

For Daniels, every stop on his journey to the NFL has been met with high expectations and each time; he has dealt with them and delivered. But he stated that when it comes to Washington, it's not about him saving the franchise; it's about the collective working together and striving for the same goal.

“I mean just going through it, just going out there and being myself, know who God made me, stay grounded, don't get too high, don't get too low because at the end of the day it takes a team to help people out," Daniels said . "Can't go out there and you know think I'm the savior. When the plays are out there to be made, make the plays but got to get the 10 other guys and the whole organization moving forward in one direction.”

So, while Daniels says he isn't the savior of the franchise for fans and the media, he certainly fits the bill.

After having been starved for quality quarterback play since the days of Robert Griffin III, Washington thinks it has finally found its guy, and that is where the excitement and hope stems from.
