Jets Believe They Have Turned A Corner With Offensive Line

A big reason for the New York Jets to have missed the playoffs for the last 13 seasons is their offensive line.

Injuries, poor coaching, and ineffective play have all been key reasons why the Jets have failed to field a competent group along the line year after year.

That appears to be changing in 2024.

With the draft selection of Olu Fashanu, the additions of Tyron Smith, Morgan Moses, and John Simpson, as well as the development of young players such as Joe Tippmann, the Jets have a positive outlook on their offensive line for the first time in years.

And no one is happier about that than General Manager Joe Douglas.

"I feel like this team, probably another silver lining for a tough year was that we had so many offensive linemen that had to play that really, pretty much, our entire depth outside of Olu (Fashanu) started games for us, and so Keith (Carter), and Ben (Wilkerson), and Kus (Walter Kusmirek), they've done a great job," Douglas said Thursday. "The additions we've brought in are such spectacular human beings, and leaders, and just great people, they work so hard, and you can see the group coming together, and so I'm excited to see the o-line out there."

It's taken a while for Douglas to solve the offensive line issues that have plagued the Jets for years to this point.

As the team prepares for the 2024 season, though, the starters seem ready and healthy, and now all that is left to do is execute the way few Jets teams have done in recent memory.
