Jets Front Office Remains in Lockstep Going Into Make or Break Year

It's quite easy to see how relationships break down at the NFL level over years of working with each other. In a results business, teams like the New York Jets have struggled to maintain continuity over the years as their playoff drought has reached 13 seasons.

Despite the finger-pointing from anonymous sources, the Jets have remained relatively close together as they prepare to end that long playoff drought.

One of the reasons is the strong relationship between general manager Joe Douglas and head coach Robert Saleh.

Both Saleh and Douglas enter 2024 on the hot seat, though. Both leaders need to be on their game and help the team compete for a championship this season.

Both parties must respect and care for each other entering this make-or-break season.

"Robert's the same guy, supremely positive, and energetic, and open with his thoughts and communications," Douglas said of his head coach Thursday. "I feel like everyone's, with the more experience you have, more comfort you have, the better you get. I think we're all in year four, five, six, in our roles, and he's really grown into this amazing leader, and he was always an amazing leader when he came in here, but just the way he can communicate with people, and the energy he brings every day, and I know I've talked about the team meetings at length when I go into how great they are.

"He's a great person and great coach."

Saleh and Douglas have helped build a culture that has the Jets thinking about the playoffs and beyond for the first time in over a decade.

It's why the organization is all-in on their personnel both on and off the field.
